The most common cause of no power is a tripped breaker or tripped GFI outlet. GFI outlets can be located in garages, bathrooms, kitchens, or on the exterior of the house. If the breaker is tripped, push the handle all the way in the off position then back on again. If you are experiencing a loss of a 240-volt circuit (stove, dryer, etc), dimming or flickering lights through out the house you should call your power company. The power company could check the meter can and service to the property most times this troubleshooting is free of charge. The lights can be flickering due to an issue with the Power Company, bad fixture, or loose connection. There are instances where surge protectors do and do not function properly or as they are intended. A surge protector is not 100% guaranteed to protect you from a direct lightning strike or lightning that comes through your cable or internet lines.
